Improve Lives in West Africa by Donating on Behalf of Vocational Programs

Forward Advantage’s Michael Wanke has some big plans for next month, and he can use your help! Michael has been working hard during his free time to raise funds for a two-week trip to West Africa. The purpose of this trip is to set up a computer lab for a vocational school in Guinea-Bissau. As a Software Developer for Forward Advantage, Michael is well-qualified for the task! He learned about this opportunity through a Christian non-profit called West African Vocational Schools (WAVS). Located in Fresno, WAVS seeks to establish vocational training centers in Guinea-Bissau, one of the smallest and poorest countries in the world. WAVS believes that collaborating with local leaders on educational programs and job training will provide long-term solutions to issues such as poverty, drug smuggling, and human trafficking.

Local “Bike and BBQ” Supports Fresno’s Children

off-the-front-003The Forward Advantage Foundation would like to thank those who recently participated in the charity “Bike and BBQ” event that took place on October 13th. Employees of Forward Advantage and Physician Network Advantage organized this event in support of Off The Front’s mission to combat obesity and poor academic performance among children in Fresno. The program grants underprivileged children a new bicycle for having met customized academic, character, and physical goals. With your help, and with Forward Advantage generously matching all donations, we raised a total of $5,180. These funds exceeded our original goal and will go towards Off the Front’s purchase of more than 50 new bicycles!

Forward Advantage Employees Support California Classic Weekend

forward-advantage-does-california-classic-metric-century-bike-rideCongratulations to Forward Advantage’s Jason Oxford, Jason Lewis, and Gary Gerard for a ride well done! On Saturday, May 19, these three teamed up for the California Classic Weekend - Metric Century Bike Ride. The Metric Century was one of three courses that riders could choose from and covered a scenic, 60-mile route in Fresno. The Forward Advantage group finished the ride in an impressive three hours and 20 minutes. The event supported a couple of local charities including the Fresno Chaffee Zoo, which has been seeking donations for the construction of the new Sea Lion Cove. Also supported was Team Donate Life, a non-profit that sponsored a race this spring to raise funds in honor of Crystel Stanford, who lost her life in a cycling accident last year. The goal of the organization is to increase awareness of organ donation and transplantation and to provide financial support for patients recovering from surgery.

Communities Unite Against Hunger with a Thanksgiving Food Drive

2011-food-drive-closeout-001The Forward Advantage Foundation completed its first food drive just in time for Thanksgiving! With the help of employee fundraising efforts, we raised a total of $5,790 dollars and 4,375 pounds of food. Food banks, and charities that depend on donations, have been greatly affected by the current economic conditions. We’d like to thank those who generously contributed to provide hunger relief in Kenya and across the U.S. Your contributions were gratefully received and will benefit the following causes:
